8 ways to look younger….its not as hard as you think

1. DRINK WATER

This is the simplest way to have great looking skin, but most of us forget to drink enough water on a daily basis. The recommended amount is 64 ounces a day. Water keeps the skin hydrated and the more hydrated the skin is the more supple it is which will help prevent wrinkling and dull skin.

2. EXFOLIATE

Exfoliate once to twice per week. Some of my favorite exfoliants are Daily Microfoliant by Dermalogica, Retinol Scrub by Skin Script and Gentle Exfoliant by PCA. I don’t suggest using scrubs that can be purchased over the counter as they tend to be drying and don’t have enough active ingredients to truly be effective.

3. USE RETINOL

Retinols work by forcing skin cells to turn over and die rapidly allowing new cell growth. They also slow down the break down of collagen and thicken the skin. Retinol is amazing for fighting fine lines, wrinkles, evening out skin texture and fading dark spots. When starting to use retinol use twice a week eventually progressing to every other night and always in the evening (never during the day as retinol is photosensitive).

4. WEAR BROAD SPECTRUM SPF!!!

I cannot stress this enough. Sun exposure is the #1 cause of aging. You should wear a minimum of SPF 30 (I wear 50). I know that SPF is in your make up, but that isn’t enough coverage. When applying cover all areas of the face, neck, chest and ears generously (body too) and don’t forget to re-apply every 2-3 hours. Some of my favorites are Solar Defense Booster 50 by Dermalogica, Dream Screen 45 by Benefit Cosmetics and Weightless Protection 45 by PCA.

5. USE QUALITY SKIN CARE PRODUCTS

Professional skincare has a higher level of active ingredients, less fillers/additives, no perfume and is pH balanced. It’s also more concentrated so you don’t have to use as much product, which means it’ll last longer. Professional skincare is a lot more expensive, but it’s definitely worth the price.

6. DON’T GET CAUGHT UP IN THE HYPE OF THE LATEST TREND

Stick with the tried and true retinol, antioxidants, alpha hydroxy acids, peptides and SPF.

7. DON’T FORGET THE EYE CREAM

You’re never too young to use eye cream or too old to start. Puffy eyes and/or dark circles can make us look older. The skin under your eyes is thinner than the skin on your face and should be given special care. Look for creams with Vitamin K, Retinol, Vitamin C, Peptides and Licorice.

8. GET PLENTY OF REST

Products work best when the body is sleeping because the body is under no stress.
